The Share the Bounty Program
The Green Directory and Local Food Guide
The Share the Bounty Program is a program designed to assist in channeling fresh food products to those who are less fortunate, via local food pantries and soup kitchens.
At present, we are simply educating people about how they can donate excess produce to the FISH Food Pantry and the HUB kitchen. In the future, we will become more active in encouraging people to commit to growing food for donation, and will facilitate communication between the local food ministries and local growers, so that gardeners will know what kinds of produce would be most helpful to the food ministries.
If you would like to be added to the mailing list of the Share the Bounty Program, or would like to commit to growing extra food for donation, please contact Brad here.
If you are interested in delivering extra produce to the food pantries:
The FISH Food Pantry is located at the First United Methodist Church, and is accessed through the back door. They are open Monday through Friday from approximately 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Barb Veech is the Volunteer Coordinator, but any of the volunteers will be happy to accept fresh produce
The Friendship Kitchen can accept donations on Saturdays before 10:00 a.m. or on Thursdays between 9:30 and 12:30. Brenda Deckard is the coordinator and requests that you give her a call ahead of time so she will know to expect you. Her cell phone is (765) 918-2453. The Friendship Kitchen operates out of The HUB, which is located at 406 South Mill St., Crawfordsville, Indiana.
