Since we launched the Crawfordsville Community Garden in 2009, things have been moving very quickly at Sustainable Indiana! The 2011 garden season was a huge success and we are now getting ready for 2012. Sustainable Indiana wants to thank all the individuals and organizations have supported us in making the Crawfordsville Community Garden such a smashing success!
We are now focusing on two exciting new projects:
1. We have just launched a "Green Directory," which is available on our website. We want to make it easier for people to live in a sustainable, environmentally responsible manner.
2. The Share the Bounty Program is a new program that is designed to help channel fresh food products to the local food ministries.
A final task that is still ahead of us is to maximize the educational potential of a community garden. Having a community garden offers wonderful opportunities to teach people about the joys of gardening, and how one can grow plants in a healthy and sustainable manner. I am particularly interested in taking this message out to children’s organizations, such as church youth groups and scouting organizations.
You can help us with this! If you know of any organizations (particularly youth organizations) that want to hear about gardening, please let us know. Likewise, if you can think of any organizations or services that need to be included in our new Green Directory, please drop us a note about it. Contact Brad at: : brad@sustainableindiana.org
